Steve made his name training HPR’s but originally started out training Spaniels and Retrievers - Steve has a wealth of knowledge and experience of all the gundog breeds and has been a professional dog trainer for 35 years.

As an A Panel Kennel Club Field Trial Judge, Steve is regularly invited to judge both Working Tests and Field Trials across the country. He has judged the HPR Field Trial Championships and is the Field Trial Secretary for the German Longhaired Pointer Club.

Steve competes with his own German Longhaired Pointers and Labrador and has made up his dog Otto, Questor Karson of Caldera, to Field Trial Champion this season.

Training the handler to train their own dog forms the basis of Steve’s philosophy. Using only positive techniques and fresh ideas, Steve is an inspiring and highly respected trainer.

Coshy

Kimberley Gundogs is a family affair and Steve’s wife Coshy is a "A" panel HPR judge, as well as frequently helping on training days.

She competes with her longhaired pointers. Coshy started out with Labradors, working them on shoots. Her first HPR was a very stroppy Italian Spinone called Gamble, who she worked and successfully trialled. She has successfully trialled longhaired pointers for the last 10 years, both at Novice and open level.

Coshy looks after the day to day running of Kimberley Gundogs.

She is also a very keen gundog handler and regularly picks up on numerous estates throughout the South West.

Whilst most of our training takes place in Devon, we also run courses in Kent during the summer months.

Training topics include hunting, use of cold game and water retrieving and courses are open to all abilities from beginner to advanced, across all the gundog breeds.

Whether you want a well-behaved pet gundog, to work with your dog in the field, or wish to compete with your dog, there’s a course for everyone of all abilities.

Kimberley Gundogs will help you get the best from your training.
